Calvin Tregre is a Shareholder in the Ohio Office of Burg Simpson Eldredge Hersh & Jardine, P.C.  He represents plaintiffs in a variety of areas, including pharmaceutical and general products liability, personal injury, wrongful death, consumer protection, employment, and civil rights litigation.  He has experience in individual, class action, and mass tort/multidistrict litigation proceedings.  Mr. Tregre has represented hundreds of clients in pharmaceutical national product liability litigation, including the PPA, Ephedra, Ortho Evra, Fosamax, Yasmin/Yaz, Testosterone, Xarelto, and Depakote litigation.  In Ortho Evra, Mr. Tregre handled both case-specific issues as well as general discovery issues and was a member of the PSC’s Privilege Log and Redaction committee.  More recently Mr. Tregre was a part of the firm’s team who resolved claims for over 1,000 clients in the Yasmin/Yaz litigation.  He currently represents clients in the Testosterone, Xarelto, and Depakote litigations, as well as clients in numerous individual personal injury matters.

Mr. Tregre earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology Pre-Med from Xavier University of Louisiana in his hometown of New Orleans.  He went on to earn his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law.  In law school, he was actively involved in the Black Law Students Association, served as an extern to the Honorable Sandra S. Beckwith of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, and graduated Order of the Barristers.  Prior to joining Burg Simpson, Mr. Tregre was as an Associate with the law firm Lopez, Hodes, Restaino, Milman & Skikos where he focused much of his attention on the firm’s PPA and Ephedra litigation and consumer class actions.

Mr. Tregre is admitted to practice in the State of Ohio, the United States District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio, the United States District Court for the District of Colorado, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. He is a member of several bar associations, including the Cincinnati Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association, the Black Lawyers Association of Cincinnati, and the National Bar Association.  He has also been recognized by the National Trial Lawyers Association as a Top 100 Lawyer for the State of Ohio and by the National Black Lawyers Association as a Top 100 Lawyer.

Mr. Tregre is actively involved in his local, regional, and national legal communities.  Locally, Mr. Tregre has been a member of the Board of Trustees for the Summer Work Experience in Law (“SWEL”) Program since 2011, a member of the Board of Trustees for the Cincinnati Bar Foundation since 2012, and a member of the Steering Committee for the Cincinnati Academy of Leadership for Lawyers (“CALL”) Program since 2012.  Mr. Tregre has also served on the Board of Governors for the American Association for Justice and the Board of Trustees for the Ohio Association for Justice since 2012.  Mr. Tregre is also a past member of the Executive Board of the Black Lawyers Association of Cincinnati.  Mr. Tregre frequently serves as a Legal Volunteer with the Bond Hill/Avondale Legal Clinic and has also volunteered with the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law Election Protection efforts.

In addition to his involvement in the legal community, Mr. Tregre has spent much of his time volunteering in the community at large. He has spent several years coaching youth football, baseball, and basketball, and he often serves as a mentor and tutor to high school and college students.  Mr. Tregre lives in Cincinnati with his wife Ebony and their three children.
